Yesterday during a soccer game I completely ruptured my right Achilles tendon. It wasn't some crazy situation battling for the ball or chasing down an opponent. No, in fact I was standing still and then went to press off to start running and it felt like somebody swiped my leg out from underneath me. The "pop" was heard as far as ~30 ft away by other players and spectators. Immediately I knew it was blown because I could feel the tendon in the back of my left ankle, however, the back of my right was just soft.
I visited Dr. Ocel at Cornerstone Orthopedic this morning and it took him about 10 seconds to confirm my suspicions. Surgery is scheduled for next week and it sounds like I will be out of commission for at least 6 months before I start to return to activities. I know the next several months will be hard so I will try to use this forum to keep track of my progress.
For now, its a walking boot for me until surgery.
